Located amidst thick greenery along the Medawachchiya-Talaimannar Highway, Mannar is The Palmyrah House – a 35-acre expanse of land dedicated for bird watchers and nature lovers.  Mannar being a rather humid and warm area with less rainfall, it has parched landscapes in abundance. However one cannot miss out on the magnificent flamingoes that visit the area during the migratory period. If you want to spend your stay as close to nature as possible and if you have an interest for bird watching, then this venue is the ideal place to be. During a recent visit to Mannar, the Lanka Woman recently explored this beautifully designed hotel space and this is what we found out :

As you walk along it’s interiors its design including arts and ornaments are inspired by the palmyrah leaf. Rather than being a closed space, it’s open from all corners in order to allow guests to absorb the tranquility and beauty of its surrounds. During the season, you will be greeted by various feathered buddies who fly in and out of the premises daily. Accommodation at The Palmyrah House is as unique as it’s concept. 12 regular rooms are available for guests and are equipped with modern amenities including WiFi, hot/cold water, tea/coffee maker, safety locker, work table and a spacious washroom with modern toiletries. In addition to that there are two upper deck suites which are larger and more spacious than the regular rooms.
One unique feature in their accommodation is that they also have a separate room to be used by any differently-abled guest. This room also has a washroom which is accessible by wheelchair. So, if you have plans to visit Mannar with a relative or friend with special needs, always remember that the staff at The Palmyrah House is ready to assist him or her.
