International Organic Day More reason to go green

September 22 marks the International Organic Day. With more and more organic food being available in the market and the government pushing for home gardening, it has become easy to join the organic army.

Why go organic?

Because organic food does not contain artificial additives or preservatives, contain much less pesticides, is not genetically modified or contain modified ingredients, and is produced sustainably. Let’s take a closer look at these.

Promoting healthy eating habits

We all know that the veggies and fruits we bring home from the market are laced with pesticides. This affects children more than they do adults. This is because children have a higher metabolism. Why expose our children to poison when we have an alternative?

Keeping our farmers safe

According to experts, farmers are exposed to poisonous substances every day. This has serious affects on the farmers’ lifestyle. The chronic kidney disease amongst the farming community is directly linked to these harmful substances.
